Solution Approach
We simulate various real foam structures to analyze temperature distribution after they have been captured via CT scan. Based on this data, we derive initial insights into which factors contribute to a lower thermal conductivity. We then develop ideal foam structures both in 2D and 3D to precisely investigate the relationship between structure and thermal conductivity. This enables us to design a structure that ensures the lowest possible thermal conductivity while maintaining consistent volume weight. In parallel, we conduct structural-mechanical simulations of the foams to ensure the required strength values are consistently met. In addition to heat conduction, radiation reflection plays a crucial role in insulation effectiveness. Higher reflection means less energy is absorbed. To optimize this, at IANUS Simulation, we perform spectral analyses for various base materials of our clients. In this way, we can accurately determine which material is best suited for the specific requirements of the customer.
