UNIQUE: IANUS COMBINES CFD WITH PROCESS SIMULATION!

Not only for the design of new processes, process modeling and simulation is also a useful tool for optimizing and reengineering existing processes to increase the operation efficiency, intensifying the process, reduce mass and heat losses, or to eliminate miscellaneous malfunctions. Primarily, chemical process modeling and simulation can be applied for:

Process simulation vs. CFD - the X makes the difference!

A unique advance in chemical process simulation is to integrate the results from CFD simulations into the common chemical process simulation. IANUS Simulation GmbH introduces this powerful and highly potential technique to its customers and offers them a novel, yet professional, engineering service. It is named as “ChemProX3D” where X implies the possibility of mono- or multidimensional chemical process simulation, and 3D stands for the CFD calculations. The foregoing combination includes, but is not restricted to, the following possibilities within the studied equipment:

  • Concrete description of the mass and heat transport phenomena within the simulated model which consequently leads to a better design and gives the designer clearer view on how the data from the chemical process should be obtained and processed.
  • Incorporate residence time distributions resulted from the CFD calculations into the chemical process model to obtain meaningful results in case of systems with highly nonideal mixing conditions and thus to avoid the inadequacy of applying well-mixed conditions in such cases.
